Since 2002, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York has presented concerts, art exhibitions, discussions, theatre and more, bringing the best of Austria’s fine arts to American audiences. This year, the Austrian Cultural Forum continues its 10th anniversary celebration with free concerts featuring outstanding performers from the US and Austria. Newly commissioned works by the most significant Austrian composers active today highlight these programs, which are framed by US premieres and landmark compositions.
The Fall Anniversary season begins on October 15 with cellist Nicolas Alstaedt and violinist Nicolas Dautricourt performing the world premiere of a commissioned work by Thomas Larcher. Later that month, on October 25, the award-winning Hugo Wolf Quartett performs the world premiere of a commissioned work by Manuela Kerer. Electroacoustic music pioneer Wolfgang Mitterer brings his improvisatory compositions to ACF on November 12.
In addition to the Tenth Anniversary Concert Series, Austrian Cultural Forum New York hosts, presents and supports a long list of other concerts and events, both at ACF’s intimate concert hall and at other venues around New York City. This fall’s events includes the Moving Sounds Festival 2012, September 13-15 at ACF and several other locations; Artis-Quartet Vienna with pianist Janis Vakarelis October 17 at Carnegie Hall; and Opera Moderne’s production of Viktor Ullmann’s opera, Kaiser von Atlantis, November 16-18 at Bohemian National Hall. Details about these and other offerings from ACFNY are listed at the end of this press release.
Except where noted below, concerts are free, and reservations are required. Program information is below, with details, artist and composer bios and reservation information at www.acfny.org.
