The band Sybarite5 is not your run-of-the-mill chamber music ensemble. They’re essentially a string quartet with an added bass, but rather than focusing of Schubert or Schumann, they are more likely to champion the works of living composers. Tonight, for example, they’ll premiere a work by James Nyoraku Schlefer which features the Japanese shakuhachi flute. They’ve also recorded a whole album of Radiohead songs arranged for their chamber configuration. Sybarite5 plays tonight at Symphony Space.
