Violinist Hongyi Mo
Acclaim
““masterful performance””
““engaging interpretations and virtuosic command””
The violinist Hongyi Mo found himself swept away by the strong emotional pull of Francis Poulenc’s vocal music. Driven by his desire to translate the meaning of the words to an instrumental platform, he transcribed ten of Poulenc’s songs for violin and piano. Mo and pianist John Etsell perform these gems, along with Poulenc’s sonatas for oboe and violin, on the new album Métamorphoses (Azica, rel. August 15, 2025).
