A major force in 21st century music, composer Victoria Bond is known for her melodic gift and dramatic flair. Her works for orchestra, chamber ensemble and opera have been lauded by The New York Times as "powerful, stylistically varied and technically demanding."

Commissions include The American Ballet Theater, Pennsylvania Ballet, Jacob’s Pillow, Houston, and Shanghai Or­chestras, Cleveland and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestras, Stockton Symphony, Michigan Philharmonic, Ameri­can Opera Projects and Cassatt String Quartet.

Performance highlights include the world premiere of Bond’s opera Clara at the Berlin Philharmonic Easter Festival, Mrs. President, performed by the New York City Opera (scenes) and Anchorage Opera (concert premiere), Anne Frank’s Tree, commissioned and performed by Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Sarasota Chamber Orchestra, Sorrows Springs are the Same at The United Nations by violinist Renee Jolles, Bridges at the Ravinia Festival by members of the Chicago Symphony, premiere performances of her trombone concerto in 2025-2026 and a 2026 premiere performance of a piano quintet commissioned by Cassatt String Quartet. Her compositions have been performed by the Dallas Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Irish National Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony and members of the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphonies, among others.

Bond’s discography includes Blue and Green Music with chamber performances by Cassatt String Quartet and baritone Michael Kelly (Albany 2022), Illumination, piano works played by Paul Barnes (Albany, 2021), Instruments of Revelation (Naxos, 2019) and Soul of a Nation: Portraits of Presidential Character (Albany, 2018). Her music has also been recorded on the Koch International, GEGA, Protone, and Family Classic labels, and her works are published by G. Schirmer, Theodore Presser, C.F. Peters, Subito Music and Protone Music.

Ms. Bond is the first woman awarded a doctorate in orchestral conducting from the Juilliard School. She served as Exxon/Arts Endowment Conductor with the Pittsburgh Symphony, has been principal guest conductor of Chamber Opera Chicago since 2005, and guest conducted through­out the United States, Europe, South America and China.

Victoria Bond is Artistic Director of Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival, which she founded in 1998, a series on which more than 300 works have been premiered over three decades. She has been honored with the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Walter Hinrichsen Award and the Miriam Gideon Prize.
